Super Junior recently created a wave in the Korean music industry with their fourth album,BONAMANA. Unfortunately, three members, KiBum, HanGeng, and KangIn did not take part in the album.
While KiBum has been focusing on his acting career and HanGeng has been involved lawsuit against SM Entertainment, KangIn is preparing to enter the army this year. As the members of Super Junior are coming to an age where they should fulfill their military duties, another member revealed plans to enter the military in the near future.
On May 20th at Seoul Kangnam-gu Apujung, Super Junior stated, “If we are to appeal to the public, we must fulfill our national defense duty,” implying plans to enter the Korean military in the future. Although Super Junior has the titles of an “idol group” and as “juniors”, members LeeTeuk and HeeChul are currently 28 years old, while the others are nearing their early to mid-20s.In addition, Super Junior said,
We are surprised ourselves that we were able to do it for this long. We experienced incidents so we don’t think we’ll be easily shaken by little things anymore. We’ve gained endurance and will be able to survive longer. We believe that we will last for 20 to 30 years without harm.
With the possibility of KangIn entering the military in July, Super Junior stated, “Of course we have to fulfill the duty of national defense. The majority of people think that celebrities avoid entering the army, but we will go into the army as Korean men.”
Leeteuk also said,
I’m thinking of entering into the army next year. It could be at the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012. I’m going to work hard until I enter into the army and I will come back as Super Junior. I believe that if I show myself as someone who works hard, I will survive longer as a singer.
