Wonder Girls’ leader SunYe and fellow members Yenny and Yoobin have come out in the open and spoke about the alleged mistreatment issues brought about by their former English tutor Daniel Gauss. Read more under the cut.
Right before Wonder Girls’ U.S. and Korean comeback this week, JYPE is faced with serious issues that Wonder Girls were ill-treated during their stay in the U.S. including not having health insurance and being housed illegally – which was then later denied by JYPE CEO Jung Wook saying that it’s pure nonsense.
Jung Wook stated that the girls were able to receive health insurance as they were students in the U.S., but due to their heavy global schedule forcing them to miss their language classes, the insurance was revoked,
“You do realize over 50 million Americans don’t carry health insurance and most Korean nationals there don’t as well, right? With that said, up until January they did have health insurance. That was possible because they were legally allowed to apply for health insurance as students but because the girls had been flying back and forth from Korea to the U.S. [...] They stopped attending classes which took them out of coverage once they left the school. They needed to continue their linguistic studies, Dan was hired to further teach them along with another tutor named Claire. If you’re a top class star like the Wonder Girls, your health is our first priority.”
The JYPE CEO did not seem convinced about Gauss’ claims of trying to help Wonder Girls by telling the ‘truth’ about JYPE, instead claiming it was merely a bitter act on Gauss’ part “I don’t understand why the entire country has to hear about what this guy has to say. He is just a disgruntled ex-employee who quit because he thought we weren’t treating him well.”
